Progress On February's Projects
Slow But Steady - Could Be A Two Month Schedule?
I suppose - what with my plodding work speed - that you will not be surprised to see that I am barely making progress on the four jobs that I started this month. It's the 24th and by now I had hoped that I would have been close to at least completing one of them... But no. 😕
So let's have a quick round up...
1. Library of Books Book Nook
Well, I did make a good start and in fact got all the tiny books for my library completed. Unfortunately, that's just the start and the bulk of the work is ahead with actually building the library room itself.
However, I'm a bit chilled about this as I had already decided (realised) that this complex project would take multiple months to complete, particularly as I do not want to rush it. So, I'm not too worried.
2. N Gauge Japanese Gas Station Diorama
This took me a while to figure out just where I was with this old project so I at least have an excuse for being a bit behind with this. That said I have made an encouraging start by finding a suitable material to base the diorama. I came across a likely looking board while strolling through our local department store...
I was hoping to have already moved onto sorting out and arranging some of the scenic furniture in place ready for attaching BUT this boarding was a bit more of a job in it's own right than I had expected. In fact, I may make my next episode of MILGEKACHOO! just on this basing work on it's own. That way I get this project out on video in smaller increments.
3. Colt 1927 Detective Special 3D Printed Prop
The centrepiece for my 'Philip Marlowe' Noir detective Shadow Bod display is actually coming together and I'm even slightly optimistic that I *might* finish this before month end! 😏
There have been problems though which have slowed the progress down. This is mainly to do with my (poor) choice of PLA filament for this model. I strayed away from my usual Flashforge brand of PLA and tried a cheaper brand... Big mistake!
Although the matte grey NOLLE brand PLA does look lovey (if I remember, I believe there was no Flashforge grey available when I bought this) it turned out to be very brittle and apt to break easily!

And break it I did, several times - even though I wasn't being my usual ham fisted self and nor was it because my wobbly hand was the cuprite. Nope, it was just because this PLA was so very flimsy (I won't get it again).

4. COBI KARAS Brick Bomber
And this is the project that has suffered from all the various delays with the other jobs. I haven't even started it!
So there's nothing to show you, but I do hope to make a start the day after next. Suffice to say, though, that this means that it is very unlikely to be finished before the end of the month.
(To make up for this I managed to find a nice little video about the KARAS...Enjoy!)
------------------------
And that's where we are, a bit disappointing BUT a couple of positives as well. I should have suspected that putting a time limit on my projects would backfire and also that trying to work on FOUR projects at once was a bit foolhardy!
