Lots Going On, But Is It Too Much?

Taken On More Than I can Chew…

I kicked off January 2026 very enthusiastically but perhaps a little too enthusiastically, with a grand plan that FOUR major projects on the go at the same time was doable.

Well, colour me surprised, it turns out that I has critically over-estimated my ability to process so many complex projects at the same time and my plan to do at least three of them in a month was just a laughable fantasy!

Above: This - believe it or not - is what I term as a 'project-ette', a 'small job' that - cough- 'shouldn't add a lot to my workload'! I'm just kidding myself that this point - this is a set of 3D printed models based on the BBC TV series 'Small Prophets' which my wife is obsessed with. I have little conception about how these 'small' additional jobs impact my schedule.

Here we are in mid-March and I still have not completed ONE of the original four - although one of them is nearing completion and at least all four have been started now.

Add to this the fact that I have been tinkering with a few small project-ettes AND that I kicked off a FIFTH full blown 3D printing project then things have gotten to be a bit over much for me.

New Plan - Time To Trim The Herd

By trim the herd I don’t mean I will be ditching any of the projects that I started, just that I have revised my schedule taking into consideration what I now now that I can handle in my normal week.

Two major projects a month seems more realistic, with the caveat that any of the more complex projects - like the Library of Books Book Nook - will not have a deadline and will take as long as they take.

Above: I just can't seem to stop myself from getting embroiled in new ideas! Even knowing I was being overwhelmed with the pile of projects that I already had, I could not resist taking on a new 3D printing project. This LotR Gandalf 'book nook' model is not just one but TWO prints that I am now working on!

This immediately knocks my original three main projects down to three - The Colt Detective, COBI PLZ. 23 and the Gas Station - BUT then still puts ongoing job back up to FOUR because I started my Gandalf Book Nook/s.

My revised plan now looks like this:-

1. Colt Detective - Nearly complete (ETA one week).

Above: At least *some* good news - the Colt Detective is nearly there! Hoo-rah!

2. Gas Station - all the additional parts that were ordered have now arrived and I will be sorting these out TODAY. But I still envisage it will take two weeks to deal with the accessories and then complete the final scenic items. (ETA APRIL.)

3 COBI PLZ.23 - I have at least started this now and am doing a bit of this daily, but - again - I predict at least three weeks work left to do on this. (ETA second week of APRIL).

4. Newley added GANDALF book nooks/s - stupidly I complicated this for myself by coming up with the idea of doing TWO versions of this 3D printing project! But, I have made quick progress with this and I reckon I will have this completed very soon, (ETA lest week of March.)

5. Library of Books Book Nook - As mentioned there is now NO end schedule date for this, it will take as long as it takes working along side whatever other projects I have on the go.

And so… By APRIL I should have paired down my major projects ready to restart with just doing TWO major projects at once and that will be the normal workload from then on in.

Phew! What a tangled mess.
