I Can't Paint Every Car Black, SO Which Colour Instead?
A Problem of My Own Making!
Another small project that I've been stuck on for a while now is my GASLANDS pursuit car model conversion. Everything was going quite well, and reasonably fast, until I sprayed the model with it's black undercoat...
Er, the issue was that it kinda looked pretty cool in all black. But, then, cars do look pretty awesome and aggressive in black. Hmmmm.
So I was in a quandary. Not helped by feedback with agreed that it looks sick in the black (not helpful). LOL So, off the model went to the back burner until I could decide what to do with it. But, I couldn't. 😫
AI To The Rescue
Now, as you will have noticed, I've been dabbling with AI for generating concept sketched lately, so this seemed like a good way of getting me out of my pickle. I asked Google GEMINI to come up with some concept images in different colour scheme options. And here are the results...
Not really keen on these, when compared to the black version in the middle that does still look like the most attractive option. I did ask Gemini to do more variations, but rather amusingly this highlighted one of the issues in using AI to do this sort of thing...
AI apps - unless you are VERY specific with your prompts, does tend to go off on it's own and slightly tweaks the base subject if you aren't careful. Here, Gemini has substituted some other muscle car types in place of my Charger, including what is clearly a Mustang (middle)! LOL
I mean, in this case it's not a biggy, as all I'm after is the alternative colour scheme, but it's something you have to be wary of.
Anyway, I kinda liked the darker variations - particularly the purple - but I was particularly smitten with a dark 'midnight' blue variant (I know, it's just a black substitute really)...
I like this a lot. So I think this is the route I will be going with this one. I will just have to be sure I try this AI colour trial process FIRST the next time before I apply the undercoat so I don't get stuck in this predicament again.
I'm determined that my next car will NOT be black! LOL
