It's a bit of a eclectic mix of projects!
Well, I'm kinda getting my mojo back on again and there's a few things going on on the workbench at the moment.
The main project - which is going very slowly - is my attempt at making 1/72 scale model WW1 aircraft. I started with the Airfix Sopwith Pup at the end of last month but things when a bit pare shaped very quickly and I had to park that model in order to do some pretty substantial repairs... 😬
So, in the meantime I jumped ship - so to speak - and started the Airfix Fokker Eindecker instead (see picture above), so that I could apply some of the lessons I had learned while doing the Sopwith. To be honest, the biggest thing this project has taught me is that working at 1/72 scale is pushing what I am capable of these days.
If I do another World War 1 fighter model it will definitely be in the next scale up - 1/48 (or even 1/32) - which should give me a better chance when handling the small delicate components!
Anyhoo...
Aside from planes I am aside restarting my GASLANDS (Mad Max) vehicle project in 1/64 scale (Hotwheels/Matchbox cars size).
There are a lot less fiddly parts and being diecast metal I am less apt to break bits! 😉
At teh moment I am just reminding myself how I go about paint stripping the models ready to be customised and repainted. I have decided - this time around - to avoid the very toxic caustic soda paint stripping technique and go for the slightly less scary chemical paint stripper method...
Next stop: December and the festive season!
